Dr Jason Rapke

Veterinarian – BVSc MANZCVS (Small Animal Surgery) Grad Dip (Veterinary Clinical Studies)

I graduated from Melbourne University in 2007 and went into mixed practice for several years before undertaking a Post Graduate Internship at the University of Sydney in 2011-2012. During this time I completed a diploma in Small Animal Veterinary Clinical Studies as well as several research projects.

Following the internship, I worked at a busy specialist and small animal emergency centre in Sydney and obtained my Memberships in Small Animal Surgery from the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. I then worked in London for a year before returning home to Melbourne.

My particular interests are in ultrasonography, neurology, cardiology and surgery – particular minimally invasive (‘keyhole’) surgery. I am passionate about animal welfare issues and have volunteered at a number of welfare organisations overseas including Animals Asia in China, Animal Aid Unlimited in India and the Bali Street Dog Foundation in Indonesia.

I am an experienced surgeon and regularly perform TPLOs, medial patella luxation correction, brachycephalic obstructive syndrome surgery, anal gland removals, splenectomies, endoscopic assisted gastropexies, JPS procedures, complex lump removals and many more.

I am a former Director of RSPCA Victoria. In my spare time I enjoy playing the drums, cycling and surfing.
