Meet Dr Jacob, the newest addition ...to our Glen Iris team! 🐾

After graduating from Sydney Uni in 2013 (and taking a year to travel ✈️), Jacob began his career in general practice around Kogarah and Belmore. It was there he discovered his passion for preventative medicine and surgery, going on to complete advanced training in both soft tissue and orthopaedics through Massey University.

Most recently, Jacob moved to Melbourne for a surgical internship at MVSC and is now working toward his ANZCVSc membership exams. He’s excited to bring his skills to our stellar Glen Iris team and deliver the high standard of care your pets deserve 💙.

Outside the clinic, you’ll find Jacob outdoors—whether it’s hiking, rock climbing, or skiing ⛰️❄️.

He can’t wait to meet you and your fur babies! 🐶🐱💫

🌿 What To Do If You Find a Possum This Season

Possum season is here in Victoria, and ...it’s common to see our furry neighbours out and about — especially the young ones. Here’s what you should do if you come across one:

🐾 If the possum looks injured
• Call a registered wildlife rescuer straight away (e.g. Wildlife Victoria on 03 8400 7300).
• If it’s safe, gently place the possum in a secure, ventilated box with a towel and keep it warm and quiet until help arrives.
• You can also take injured wildlife to your nearest veterinary clinic — vets will treat and stabilise them before passing them on to a licensed wildlife carer.
• Do not attempt to feed it — the wrong diet can cause serious harm.

🌱 If the possum looks healthy but is alone
• Observe quietly before intervening — sometimes mums are nearby.
• If it’s in immediate danger (on the ground, exposed to cats/dogs, or very young), place it safely in a soft, ventilated box and contact a wildlife rescuer for advice.
• If it’s an older juvenile moving around well, it may simply be dispersing and doesn’t need rescue.

💧 Warmer Weather Wildlife Care

As the days heat up, local wildlife can really struggle. A simple way to help is to leave out:
• A shallow bowl of water in a shady spot.
• Place a stick or rock inside so small animals can climb out safely.
• Refresh the water daily.
